Drug testing, in general, is being performed by three (3) University laboratories of Forensic Sciences at Thessaloniki, Athens and Crete, and by the laboratory established by the Ministry of Justice in Athens. No one else, public or private, is authorized to give results that stand at the Court.
Workplace Drug Testing is being done only at Thessaloniki, Laboratory of Forensic Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Aristoteles University. Applications for analysis come from:
- District Attorney for prisoners accused for use, dependence and commerce
- Directorate of Transportation for drivers granting driving licenses (when a license has been revoked for drug abuse)
- Private individuals at the pre-employment stage, for Security Services. The latter is being done according to a law of 1997
